CBM India

CBM is the leading disability and development organisation in India working in 21 states. CBM has over 100 years of expertise worldwide, and views disability as a development and human rights issue and addresses poverty as a cause and a consequence of disability.

Since 1967, CBM has been working in India to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and those at risk of disability, from the most disadvantaged groups, irrespective of caste, gender or religion.

We work for people with all disabilities, whether visual, speech and hearing, physical, people affected by leprosy, intellectual, developmental or psycho-social impairments.

How we work:

In CBM we believe that people with disabilities should participate actively in their development and commit to include them as equal partners in our initiatives. We work with communities and people with disabilities and their families are foremost in our programmes.

We work with local NGO partners, including secular and faith based organisations, alliance partners including UN agencies, international nongovernmental organisations and Disabled Persons’ Organisations (DPOs), and state and national governments.

We work to enhance capacity and resources for primary and specialist health care, medical education, rehabilitation, livelihoods and empowerment of people with disabilities. We also work to ensure that the needs of people with disabilities are not forgotten in times of conflict or natural disaster.

Our Reach:

CBM works in 21 states of the country, in partnership with more than 100 local, national and international organisations aiming to create a society for all. We aim to work in hard to reach areas of greatest need in the country.
